Privacy notice

Last updated October 2026

This notice explains how Civil Service Feedback handles the information you share with us. This website is operated by The Centre for Government Reform (“we”, “us”), which is the data controller for information submitted through it.

What we collect

  • Your feedback. What you tell us in the form, such as the organisation involved and your experience there.
  • Your contact details. Your name and contact details, so we can follow up with you to confirm the details of your feedback.

Please don’t include personal information about other people unless it is needed to explain what happened. Do not include classified or security-marked material.

How we use it

  • To understand common themes across government and inform research, analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • To contact you to confirm the details of your feedback.

We never publish your contact details. If you ask us to keep you anonymous, we will not publish or share anything that identifies you. Where we draw on feedback in published work, we summarise or anonymise it and remove details that could reasonably identify other individuals.

Our lawful basis

We process submissions on the basis of our legitimate interests in researching and improving how government works, including contacting you to confirm your feedback. Where feedback includes special category information, we process it only where necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, or with your explicit consent.

Who can see it

Submissions are accessible only to a small number of authorised people working on the project. We use trusted third-party providers to host the website and the submission form. They process data on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not sell your information or share it with government departments, employers or the media.

How long we keep it

We keep submissions for as long as they are needed for the purposes above, and review what we hold regularly. Contact details are deleted once they are no longer needed to confirm your feedback.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies for advertising or tracking. The submission form is provided by a third party and may be subject to that provider’s own privacy policy.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise these rights or ask a question about this notice, contact The Centre for Government Reform via govtreform.com.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
